The Greatest Story Ever Told About
The Greatest Man That Ever Lived
Why God Made Man
This has always been an interesting question to which the Bible gives no direct answer.  But if
one reads between the lines there is an explanation.  Some say that God wanted some company.
Others say that He needed someone to take care of the earth.  But I see it differently.

Before God made man, Lucifer, His right hand man, His guardian cherub ruled the earth.  But one
day he decided to dethrone God and take over so he led a rebellion against God.  We know this
because he said “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God..”
About one third of the angels joined ranks with him.  But he was “cast down to earth” and lost his
place in heaven.  You can read the following two scriptures which describe what happened to
Lucifer and how he sinned and became Satan or the devil.

“‘You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.  You were in Eden, the
garden of God; every precious stone adorned  you…Your settings and mountings were made of
gold; on the day you were created they were prepared.  You were anointed as a guardian  cherub,
for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones.
You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in
you.  Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned.  So I drove
you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery
stones.  Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.  So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.  By
your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries.”  (Ezekiel 28)

“How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn!  You have been cast down to
the earth, you who once laid low the nations!  You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the
utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.   I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself
like the Most High.”  But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.
Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth and
made kingdoms tremble, the man who made the world a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and
would not let his captives go home?”  (Isaiah 14)

After Lucifer lost his place in heaven and sin took over his life he became Satan, the evil one, the
devil, and used his wisdom, abilities, and talents for evil rather than for good.  And he has done so
until today.  This is why anyone who follows him never has a good life.  So God decided to make
man and give him rulership over the earth.  This infuriated the devil.  So he immediately devised a
plan to take over rulership of the earth again.  He did this by getting Adam and Eve to disobey God
and to obey him instead.  To do things his way instead of God’s way.  God told Adam and Eve that
they could eat from any tree in the garden except one.  Satan convinced them to eat from it and
foolishly they did so.  As soon as they did, they realized that their union with God was broken and
they were now under the influence and control of the devil.  This was a very costly mistake not
only for them, but for us as well because we inherited this condition.

So the devil thought he’d won.  He now had rulership over the earth and mankind.  But God’s plan
was just beginning to do it’s work.  God killed the first animal which did not deserve to die, and by
it’s blood atoned for man’s sins.  Then all through the Old Testament the nation of Israel  sacrificed
animals to God as atonement for their sins until Jesus came and “once for all” sacrificed himself
as the ultimate sacrifice for sin.  By doing so, he broke Satan’s hold on mankind.  Now, those who
accept what Jesus did for them are covered by the blood of his sacrifice and Satan has no more
power over them.  In fact it’s the other way around, they now have power over the devil.  Satan
was again enraged.  This is why he hates Christians so much and wants to destroy them.  And this
is why those that are influenced by Satan do the same.  By dying on the cross, Jesus won back
the rulership of the earth.  But He has not yet come back to set up His kingdom on earth.  But He
will very soon.   It’s His, He paid for it in full.  And He wants to share it with His followers.  Until He
comes, He is letting the devil rule the earth, but when He does come back, He will lock the devil in
a bottomless pit for a thousand years and then there will be peace, love, joy, and true prosperity
on earth under His rulership.

So this is the whole story of why God made mankind.  It was to show everyone the devastating
effects of sin.  The devil sinned and lost his place in heaven.  Mankind sinned and lost the glorious
life that God had planned for them.  The angels that didn’t join the devil got to see the effects of sin
and were glad they didn’t make that choice.  The angels that did join the devil lost their place in
heaven and were cast out.  Then God sent His Son, Jesus to die for mankind so that anyone who
wants to be forgiven and turn back to God could easily do so.  Very soon  Jesus will come back to
earth to set up His kingdom for Him and His followers.  And the devil and his followers will be cast
into the lake of fire (after the bottomless pit).  And then there will be life on earth the way God
originally intended it to be before the devil messed up the plan.  But God was able to bring it full
circle and the devil lost everything.  So who do you want to follow?
